You select a bunch of green bananas and fold them into a plain paper bag. You fold the top loosely and place the bag on the kitchen counter.
Immediately after, the bag rests there undisturbed. Open it to check—the bananas stay firm, their skins vivid green and unyielding to touch.
The first day goes by. The bag appears exactly the same. No hints of color, texture, or smell emerge.
A second day passes without any visible shift. The exterior of the bag shows nothing different.
On the third day, you unfold the bag. The bananas have yellowed, softened with spots, and give off a ripe sweetness. The readiness appears all at once.
During those days, the transformation remained out of sight. Time alone held the action apart from the outcome.
